The San Francisco teen has been missing since July 28th.

San Francisco police are asking for the public’s help in locating 14-year-old Maryeli Rivera, who has been missing for more than a month. Rivera was last seen on July 28 around 7 p.m. leaving her home on the 400 block of Potrero Avenue. According to police, Rivera is known to frequent Third Street in the Bayview District and the area near Potrero Avenue and 16th Street.
She is described as a Hispanic female, about 5-foot-2 and weighing between 135 and 140 pounds, with black hair and black eyes. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a black crop top T-shirt and red pants.
In a statement, UCSF pediatrician Dr. Eleanor Chung, who identified Rivera as one of her patients, said the teen had recently graduated from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Academic Middle School and was preparing to begin her freshman year at Wallenberg High School, which she has not yet attended.
The San Francisco Police Department issued a missing person bulletin on August 28, citing case number 250-417-160. Officials encourage anyone with information about Rivera’s whereabouts to call 911 immediately or contact the department’s Missing Persons Unit at 415-734-3070.
Vanished SF: Statistics from state and regional agencies shed light into just what we're dealing with yearly in terms of missing persons. In 2021, of more than 60,000 children reported missing in California, over 7,000 were from the Bay Area, and nearly 400 remained missing by year’s end.
San Francisco alone lists upwards of 1,400 active missing-person cases, though only a fraction are publicly identified. For context, the city is a recognized hotspot for child sex trafficking, with hundreds of survivors identified in recent years.
